Liberal Democrat MP Normal Lamb has been conducting vital research into access to NHS support for people with autism, finding that people are having to wait years for a diagnosis.
"These scandalous waiting times are happening despite clear evidence that early diagnosis and intervention can make a massive difference to people's life chances" said Norman. "My mailbox is filled with parents contacting me over staggering delays in getting an autism assessment for their child. Many told they must wait more than 2 years for a first appointment. My research with National Autistic Society reveals a dreadful postcode lottery."
