Marianna to Keep Fighting for Local Homes
Marianna Baxter has been fighting for social and affordable housing in this area for many years. Cornwall has some of the highest levels of unaffordability in the country.
Marianna said, “The Liberal Democrats on Cornwall Council are about to fulfil their pledge to build 1,000 affordable homes. This is a phenomenal achievement, but it can’t end here. We need to make sure we get Liberal Democrats on the Council in May to make sure more affordable homes are built in a sensitive and sustainable way that protects our green space.”
More affordable and social housing
Marianna has served on the local housing association board and is committed to pushing for more affordable and social housing for local people.
National Housing campaigner and former local MP, Andrew George said: “This is an issue the Liberal Democrats feel very strongly about. We have spoken to many young families in Cornwall who have told us what a struggle it can be to get on to the housing ladder.
“The Lib Dems in Cornwall were absolutely right to set themselves this ambitious target. We are thrilled that they are not only meeting that target but are likely to go beyond it. This is of a huge benefit to lots and lots of families in Cornwall who previously would have been priced out of the market.”
