Victory for Lib Dems in Long Rock By-election
The Liberal Democrats are overjoyed to welcome John Martin to the Cornwall Council group following the result of yesterday' by-election. The election was triggered by the resignation of Conservative councillor Tara Sherfield-Wong. John has been a councillor for many years and brings a wealth of experience with him along with a commitment to serving the people of Long Rock, Marazion and St Erth.
John said “I am thrilled to have been chosen as the representative for Long Rock, Marazion and St Erth. This result clearly shows that people are fed up of being taken for granted by the Conservatives. They want a councillor who will listen to the residents and show up to represent them. The result also sends a message of discontent about the proposed imposition of a Mayor for Cornwall. The plan would put too much power in the hands of one person, cost a lot of money and won’t offer Cornwall the proper devolution that it needs.
